St. Francis Medical Center Holiday Hope Toy Drive – Thank You for Giving
Dec 20, 2018 | St. Francis News
St. Francis Medical Center Foundation would like to thank everyone for their donation of toys and gifts to this year’s Holiday Hope Campaign Toy Drive. Through generous donations from our employees, Dr. Michael Stephen and his church, Lifeway Church in Glendale, Dr. Nalin Mallik, JAKKS Pacific, Alexander Imports, St. Francis Foundation Board of Trustee Member Sean Perrone, Los Angeles Police Department Watts Bears, and Lynwood and Firebaugh High Schools, we collected more than 1,700 toys and 52 gift cards (totaling $650+).
Toys and gift cards will benefit patients in our Pediatrics Unit and Emergency Department, as well as children, teens, and families receiving services through our Children’s Counseling Center clinics located in our hospital and in the city of South Gate. The gifts will also benefit families served through our Health Benefits Resource Center and Spiritual Care Services.
Mariko Yamada, Director of the Children’s Counseling Center, was overwhelmed by all of the gifts the Children’s Counseling Center received. She said the Center officially kicked off the Christmas toy distribution. As her team makes appointment reminder calls, they are informing families that Santa has come by and dropped off gifts. The children have the opportunity to select a toy of their choice. She gratefully said, “On behalf of the Children’s Counseling Center, thank you to everyone for your donations and kindness.”
Eleanor Ramirez, St. Francis Interim President and CEO, summed up the successful campaign by saying, “What a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday. We are thankful to our community, partners, physicians and associates. There will be indeed a ‘Happy Holiday’ for many of our children. Thank you, all.”
